Hey, this looks like a netbook, but it's a full- fledged notebook. It's got notebook guts in netbook size. Face. This is the Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T- 68U118. Rolls right off the ton. Let's get the cons out of the way first, then we can end on a positive note. The trackpad is small, the keys are a little bit mushy. The screen does not get very bright. And the on board graphics are on board graphics. It's not a discreet graphics chip. So, although you have a very powerful processor, the entire system is hamstrung, somewhat, by the relatively underpowered Intel GMA 500 graphics. On a positive note, this computer-- of all the machines I've tested over the years-- offers the least amount of compromise between portability and power. Three pounds, 1- inch thick, the size of a netbook, the power of a notebook, Intel Core i7 processor-- that's their top- of- the- line processor for Intel. It's an alter mobile low voltage version to conserve battery life. But the clock speed adjust between about 1- 1 / 2 gigaHertz and 2- 1 / 2 gigaHertz depending on what you're doing. The battery life is rated at up to 8 hours by Acer. I was able to squeeze 6 hours out of it, really, really trying to drain that I had-- constantly loading web pages, full maximum brightness on the screen, and I couldn't drain it any quicker than it, than 6 hours. So, definitely great battery life. Worth a look if you're looking for something with the portability of a netbook and the power of a notebook. There's not a lot of compromises here. Who am I to compromise? Who likes to compromise? Who said Stan says " Well, I would love to compromise ." Nobody. Compromise. More like pampermize your baby.
