My life is dedicated to my country and through the Tea Party Movement, it's the avenue that I can use to be able to accomplish what I need to accomplish. >> Ginny Rapini is the co- coordinator for the California Tea Party Patriots. The anti- tax political movement that emphasizes limited government and colorful events. >> I'm Ginny Rapini from the NorCal Tea Party Patriots. >> She said she donates a minimum of 50 hours every week to the Tea Party cause. >> It was towards the end of the Bush administration that I wasn't happy with the spending policies that were taking place at that time. I did appreciate how Bush kept our country safe and then with the first stimulus, then with the second stimulus, I knew, there was I had to start getting involved, I had to do something. >> Because it's out of control. >> Okay. >> And then with the initiatives in the registration back there because that way- >> Rapini is small business owner and grandmother of seven organized the Tax Day Tea Party protest in Sacramento, the California State capital. >> I have never done anything like this before, this is all new to me. I've been the type that was probably a little more politically aware than the average person but I never was involved. >> I would get mad at some things that were going on but this is the first time that I have ever been afraid of what I am seeing happening to my country. >> That fear and anger of government have typified the Tea Party Movement since last summer's health care town hall meetings. This November, we'll see if those emotions translate into a shift in the political landscape. >> And the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> And when people fear the government, you have tyranny and right now in this country-- >> Speakers at the event worked up the crowd with the usual Tea Party lines. >> In the capital zone and in the White House at Washington D. C. we are living under a modern day tyranny. >> I actually see the Tea Party Movement making a huge change in the political climate of this country and the Tea Party Patriots will be a huge part of that. >> The protest attracted its fair share of comedic costumes, freedom fries and even an arrest for crossing police barriers. >> Rapini says the real focus is on political change. >> And we need to go back to where we- where we've lost our way. >> But lifelong conservatives like Rapini who would never vote for a Democrat are not key to growing a movement that can lead to victories in 2010 and 2012, it needs new voters and converts like Damian Fussell. >> Once I turned 18, that was the first thing I did. I was so excited about voting. Right now I'm trying to get a lot of people registered to vote as Republicans. We have a huge campaign going in Sac County where we're trying to get all the Republicans who have either moved or switched over to Democrats to vote as Republicans in the next election. >> In 2008, I actually volunteered for the Obama campaign, I went to different rallies, I helped them out with phone banks and I even went to a celebration after he was elected and it was a lot of fun, I was really excited at the beginning but now I have actually switched to a Republican. Hi ma'am would you like to register your vote today? >> Fussell cites the Health Care Bill and what he calls Welfare for College students as his factors for his switch in allegiances. >> Vote them out! Vote them out! >> Let them hear it! >> Vote them out! Vote them out! Vote them out !. >> If we get back to our core principle of fiscal responsibility, limited government- >> Political analysts may challenge the facts of rallies like this but few down play the potential impact of this movement and Rapini says the Tea Party Patriots are here to stay. >> And we will never let our guard down again? >> No! >> never!
