## Transcript

I think the media plays a critical role in blowing up bubbles. [ MUSIC ] I don't that you can point to any speculative mania of the past and not find the media playing a very prominent role. And that's going back hundreds of years. and I think media ultimately is the transmission mechanism. It takes the excitement of the investment markets and broadcasts that out, and ends up sucking people in that wouldn't ordinarily be buying railroad bods in the 1800s or joint stock companies in the 1700s. Were dot com stocks in the '90s and trading them like baseball cards. You know, a lot of neophytes find their way into these bubbles as a result of the media and not just the financial media, but the mainstream media.

So I think, you know, they, they play a really big role. [ MUSIC ] No I actually think the media is doing something very different now. I think because of all the criticism. That the financial media quote unquote missed the crisis. Some of which is fair. Now I think they're going overboard. They're overly pessimistic about markets. They act as though markets going up is somehow abnormal. When in fact history suggests it's the most normal thing in the world. And I think that they've played a, a role in keeping people out of investing for their retirements. I think they've been really detrimental on the other side.

They are not cheerleading this market. Far from it. They're warning people incessantly about the next crisis, the next shoe to drop. And I think there's way too much of that going on.
