## Transcript

Yesterday at 3PM our special operations group executed an arrest on the suspect in that operation. That suspect was a 20 year old [ UNKNOWN ] man. He was arrested in [ UNKNOWN ] and then he was taken into custody by our special operations group who then transitioned him to the joint counter terrorism team. A joint kind of terrorism team are interviewing him and anything in response to terrorists offenses. Those offenses are that he was engaged in acts in preparation for a terrorists offense and also collecting materials, documents to facilitate a terrorist act. DeMIle is one of our high risk persons of interest We have been monitoring him for a very lengthy period of time.

He's an Australian citizen, and he's of Somalian parents. The allegations are that he was planning to commit a terrorist act and that he attempted to obtain a gun to do so. What we will be alleging is he was intending to use a firearm to shoot and kill as many people as he could in the Federation Square area on New Year's Eve.
