## Transcript

Two people are dead and more than 100 others injured after an apparent gas explosion rocked part of a county jail in Florida late Wednesday night. The blast Wednesday night levelled part of the booking center at the Escambia County Jail. Prisoners who were not hurt are being moved to other facilities. According to the Pensacola News Journal, the damaging blast was heard up to three miles away, and about 600 inmates were inside at the time. Authorities say they transferred hundreds of inmates to other facilities, but a reporter for CNN tweeted early Thursday that the local sheriff said it's possible some escaped during the chaos.

Authorities also confirmed early Thursday, both inmates and jail workers were injured in the explosion which caused part of the building to collapse. A county spokesperson told CNN more than 150 people were taken to five nearby hospitals, but thankfully all of the patients admitted are expected to be okay. Victims' relatives say they're getting very little information. There aint no body telling us nothing, we don't know if they are dead or alive, it's very frustrating I can't sleep not knowing that my child is okay. The cause of the deadly blast is still unknown, but a few officials told WINK TV they're investigating whether this weeks thunderstorms and heavy flooding in the area had something to do with it.

As Time reports, Florida's governor declared State of emergency in 26 counties because of the severe weather, and called on local and state agencies to help those affected by flooding. Officials told reporters by Thursday morning, authorities had cleared the building after searching for anyone who may have been trapped inside. Thanks for watching. I'm Loren Zima.
