When I took my first driving test 8 years ago, the DMV proctor recommended me, before I even got in to the car because I was wearing heels, he told me, " Driving in high heels is extremely unsafe ." I'm Alyssa Fetini for time. com, and today, I think I finally found a car that will prove him wrong.

>> For great many years, I think a lot of manufacturers did not focus on women. Chevrolet has redesigned the Equinox so that you can drive with a very high heel and feel comfortable. There is a decent amount of space between the bottom of the accelerator and the floor, so that you can put your stilettos in there, and drive safely.

>> Thank you, Judy. And I'm looking forward to taking it out for a test spin, to see how it holds up with what I'm wearing right now. Since women account for nearly half of all Equinox buyers compared to about a third for the Chevy brand as a whole, the Equinox is the first and only Chevy with a female- friendly pedal. Depending on how well it's received, it may be considered for future models. I remember one incident that I have when I was driving, when my heel actually got caught underneath the pedal, and I know that that's one of the biggest safety concerns of better involved this driving in heels.

And in this case, my heel is placed at an angle where there is no way that it could get caught underneath the brakes, and also, I'm finding myself not needing to push down this hard because my ankle isn't-- needs to pivot as much as it would in another car. One thing that I do noticed after having run this for a while now is that, while the accelerator pedal makes it a lot easier to drive in heels, the brake is still set off a little bit more. So, I can kind a still feel a little bit of discomfort when I'm braking. It's not as easy to brake, as it is to accelerate. So for that reason, I might just kick the heels off, and keep going with old faith which is driving in tennis shoes, or in flat shoes.
