## Transcript

General Motors has frozen sales on some 33, 000 Chevy Cruze sedans, thanks to airbags that might not inflate properly in crashes. According to a dealer memo obtained by Automotive News, GM says airbags from supplier, Takata Corporation installed in some 2013 and 2014 model year Cruzes are suspect, and may have been improperly assembled. An official recall notice is pending as GM investigates whether there have been injuries as a result of faulty airbags. Takata airbags have had a rough month, triggering recalls of millions of units from seven different auto manufacturers, and that doesn't even count GM.

The Cruze itself has also had its share of problems. A recall of 2012 models earlier this year, also for Takata airbag problems, and recalls in August of 2013 for brake pump failures. Despite all of these setbacks Cruze was still Chevrolet's most popular car last year. GM sold nearly a quarter million of them. And this stoppage might not slow dealers down too much. GM reps told Automotive News most of its Cruze stock was safe and would be available for sale again as soon as Thursday. Thanks for watching. I'm Cliff Judy.
