[ MUSIC ] I'm in New York City's Time Square, and I'm asking people about how to give a child an allowance. Different ages, different amounts. We have three daughters, and daughters tend to Get on the right side of their father regularly and so an allowance wasn't necessary. Do you give your kids an allowance? No, I do not. Why not? We never decided to go down that route when we were raising them. I didnt' feel that, that was something that was important at the time. Do you get an allowance? I do not, but I do make money on my own. We teach our kids. They have a chore list and if they go above and beyond and do those chores without even being asked we give them a little bit more.

My first allowance was ten dollars when I was eight. Did you ever get an allowance? Yeah, when I was younger. As I got older It wasn't enough [ INAUDIBLE ] I think is a good thing if you really stick to it, it teaches them a lesson, I think that they all do need to learn. And we had a bank account set up for all of them until we found out that our son got wise that he could get the money out of the bank without his parents' permission, so that put an end to their own personal account for a while.
