## Transcript

If I had to pick one blog that I was reading everyday it would be Steven Clemons' Washington Note. He's really looking at the political choices that are being made in the various wars and conflicts situations in which the U. S. finds itself. Steve is absolutely unique and the access that he has to the magic players in any foreign policy issue and also the expertise and experience that he brings to it. And then he has, you know, strong opinions. He's not afraid to actually jeopardize his access by saying, " Well, actually the policy choices had've been made. I simply rung and they're going

>> to fail and here's why ."

>> One of the blogs I'm enjoying reading at the moment is this blog called double X. The good thing about double X as a sort of a female blog is that junk cooking recipes or how to get the spot out of the carpet. It might do that but it would do it in a sort of an intelligent way. It's much more about the news of the day and how that will impact women's lives.

>> One blog I've really been enjoying reading is The AWL which is a really intelligent, sort of, a general interest- popular culture blog on everything from television to media to politics to literature. It's very broadly interested rather than being very specifically focused on your kind of, a narrow cultural group. It's just very intelligent people who are both funny and take their subjects seriously, writing about whatever interests them. It says that, you know, a lot of these cultural stuff that we spend our days immersed in, it's worth really intelligent attention.

>> I also just really like reading a blog that you can tell is not written just to be provocative and generate a lot of hits. It's really refreshing and it's something that, you know, unfortunately now, a lot of people out there are doing now.

>> One of my favorite fun blogs right now, it's a fun parenting blog, is Shit My Kids Ruined. It is basically a reality check on the toddler years. There's broken dolls, there's smashed cake. Also show things that you definitely wouldn't have broken

>> if you didn't have any kids. It doesn't tell you anything new about the world but it makes you laugh.

>> There's been a proliferation of green, environmental, climate change blogs now over the past several years and it's often hard to find a [ unk ] blog where you get both expertise and also you don't have someone always pushing an issue. I mean, that's one of-- one part of anything when you're doing the environment is the people tend to fall very strictly on one side to the other. But there's one particular blog, Climate Progress, it's one you can go to and you can trust that they're being straight forward. It's run by a guy named Joe Romm, who used to be a official with the Department of Energy under the Clinton administration.

You can get scientific studies that you may not have heard about. You can get spoon ton information when it comes to what's going on politically and economically. He loves, actually, going after journalists who've written things he disagrees with and that's definitely happened to me, once or twice. But you can respect someone who cares something about that passionately doing it, day in and day out. It's just sort of a one- stop shop in terms of what he's doing for everything really that has to do with climate change right now.
