## Transcript

Ironic in an awful way. A TV reporter, robbed, while covering a robbery in front of a police station. Julie, this is the same area that's already been dealing with a rash of car break ins. Heather Holmes, is a San Francisco reporter, and was covering a brutal mugging and a string of car burglaries In Oakland California. But before she finished her story, we became part of it. She tweeted, doing a live report at Oakland police headquarters, and my purse is stolen from the live truck. And to make matters worse, according to Holmes, someone used the bank card stolen from her purse, less than half an hour after the theft.

But apparently, stealing from reporters while they're on the job has become a regular thing in Oakland, California. Last year, according to The New York Times, every major television station in the bay area was robbed of their expensive cameras at least once. With one photographer in particular losing five cameras. Perhaps the most jarring of the robberies came on live television. When a KPIX photographer was punched at the end of a live shot before having his camera stolen. Many Bay Area stations have resorted to sending armed plain clothes security guards with reporters and photographers to keep them safe.
