## Transcript

This is now the second annual Mothers Day's gadgets video. The first time around, I had clearly not heard of a lapel mike. Oh, look here's a guy in a blue shirt on the Internet. And some of my recommendations have not held up, but some of them have. I still recommend the iPad if you have a tech savvy mom, although, let's upgrade the iPad to the iPad2. If your mom is a little less tech savvy, I do recommend an e- book reader. Last year I recommended the Nook, from Barnes and Noble, but this year I recommend the Nook Color. And, of course, I do have some new tips you can use when shopping for gadgets for your mother.

For starters, just because a gadget is labelled as the perfect gift for Mother's Day does not make it so. For instance, Newegg. com wants you to buy your mom a wireless router for mother's day. A wireless router. That's a perfect gift if you want mom to spend all of Mother's Day in the utility room in your basement tangled up in cords. And just because a gadget is colored pink or red does not mean that it's a suitable gift for Mother's Day. I got this email from a PR person. Last minute Mother's Day, pink- red TV. First of all, you're shopping last minute, which is rude. Second of all, you're giving your mom a pink TV?

Would you give her a black TV? If not, a pink TV does not make it better. And last, but not least, beware of crap. SkyMall is well known for having cool gadgets. But when you stumble across something like the Wish Wrap, a luxurious wrap that's as comfortable being worn while you surf the net as it is when you run to the grocery store. And features a wish pocket that lets you carry your fondest wishes with you wherever you go. A percentage of profits will be donated to women's charities. But which women's charities? Nobody knows! What the hell is that? Your mom's not gonna wear that to the grocery store.

If you're gonna get a WishWrap, you might as well save a little money and get her Smittens, the world's dumbest mittens. Hopefully, she'll use them to hold hands with your dad, but she's an adult. She can make her own decisions. Or maybe get her a chinchilla apron-- not actually made of actual chinchilla, unfortunately. Or might as well just go all out and get her a t- shirt that says, my kids rock. That's what Gifts. com recommends for Mother's Day. A shirt that says, my kids rock. Happy Mother's Day! Love you, Mom. Your my kids rock t- shirt is on its way, it'll be wrapped around the wireless router.
