Even though it's, on paper it's fully into the umbral shadow, in fact, if you were on that part of the moon you'd be seeing the. [ MUSIC ] The Sun so close to the edge of the Earth that's blocking it that brilliant light from the atmosphere is managing to come through that part of the of the eclipsed Sun, with the Earth blocking the Sun, and light up that part of mu. Even though it's in shadow, enough light is refracting into that area. To produce what. If we didn't know better, you know? We'd say, oh, this isn't totality yet. Because look at that difference, that extreme difference between the bottom of the moon and the top of the moon. So if this is not the weirdest totality of the moon that we've ever seen raise your hand. [ MUSIC ] [ LAUGH ] Yeah, I mean our clock says we're experiencing totality right now. And so this is, this is so interesting. Like, we see that top portion, is, is it completely umberfied or does that, you know, intimate that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's umberfied. It's umberfied. You know, I've been watching eclipses, don't want to admit for how many years so far, and I can honestly say I've. [ MUSIC ] Never seen a totality looking like this. Have you, Will? No, I mean, it, I was just looking at that left hand edge actually. You see the little tiny spot on the bottom left? That's the crater Gagarin. Dan, there, I don't know what you think but that limb looks as if it's already brightening. It's sort of giving a sense that, you know. This is a very short totality it all, almost looks as if the light is starting to encroach on that side of the moon certainly over literally the last minute that we've been speaking. That's right. And considering totality lasts somewhere between 5 and 12 minutes depending upon what reference sort. Of course you use. It, it's the shortest totality of our lives.
