But some airlines are actually trying to make things better for customers. Now that their bottom lines are better off too. Airlines such as United, Delta and Southwest are posting record profits, more than half a billion dollars each last quarter. So here's how they are making air travel a little less awful. After years of you call this coffee, some airlines like United Are making sure they can offer a proper cup of joe. Then there's the inflight entertainment. Because there's nothing worse than sitting down for a six hour flight and finding out the only movie they're offering is Fletch. Thankfully, company's like Jet Blue are raising the bar with free seat back TV screens and better WiFi. Early boarding for families has been another big push. If you think you've been annoyed by a crying kid on a plane, just think what that parent is dealing with? An upset child, and 50 angry people. Airfare is still far from cheap, but prices are getting a little more affordable, emphasis on a little. But round trip tickets in the US cost an average of $ 210 in January 2016, which is 14 % lower than a year ago. And last, but certainly not least, snacks. Because let's be honest, a free bag of peanuts is pretty much the only good thing about flying sometimes. Delta, JetBlue and Southwest have been mainstays in the free snack biz. But now United and American are getting back in the game. Free pretzels for everyone, but just take one.
