[ MUSIC ] Women control nearly $ 11. 2 trillion in investable assets, and yet many of them do not feel comfortable or confident enough to get started investing. Here to help women do that is Amanda Steinberg, the CEO of Daily Worth and WorthFM. Amanda, thank you for joining me today. Thanks so much for having me. So to start off fairly broadly, what are the some of the difference you've noticed how men and women invest their money? It's an interesting question because often people will say to me knowing what I do. What DailyWorth and worth that femme that women are better investors. Because they are more conservative and as a result make less trades.

And aren't taking as many big bets However, I think it's important for us to not make so many broad gender stereotypes, because I think a lot of that has to do with woman are raised in condition to think about money, and when you look at men and women who have the same education level around investing, that their risk patterns and their investing patterns actually appear to be a lot more similar. So with all of these options out there, how do you get started investing? For sure well this is a fascinating time with the growth of robo advisors. I've started one now called worth fm as an outgrowth of daily worth specifically because I wanted to provide A safe and educational environment for women to learn investing.

But, there's really tons of robo advisors and I'll explain what they are. Essentially, what robo advisors are, is a very inexpensive and affordable way to start investing with as little as $ 5, or $ 50, or $ 100. And essentially you don't have to know about which funds you're picking. So say for example, you wish you had, who doesn't wish they had bought Apple stock 15 years ago? However, most people who tried to buy straight stocks Would have ended up doing better had they invested in a broad basket of diversified ETFs. And something WorthFM does, if I understand correctly, is really educate women about what they're doing as they're doing it.

To kind of overcome that knowledge gap. Yeah, what WorthFM does is we actually give you a savings account, a retirement account, and a general investing account. And then we help you think about your entire money management picture including your debt, so that if you have say $ 500 at the end of the month, and you're going Where do I put it? Should I put it in my retirement? Should I put it in savings? Should I pay down my credit card? Our system guides you in how to distribute that so that you are maximizing your future security without running out of money in the short- term. OK. And all of this begs the question.

What is the benefit to women to start investing? You know it's really that... For many years it was about getting married and that kinda being your security and your long- term plan. But for most women these days, more than 50 % of adult women are now single. It's neither it's not only is it no longer an option, it's just it makes you dependent, and it doesn't enable you the same freedom and choices in your life. So I really encourage this really so that women can know that they are securing their own futures which gives them the ability to live life on their own terms versus somebody elses. Okay great Amanda, thank you so much for joining me.

Thanks for having me. [ MUSIC ]
