## Transcript

Hi, I'm Mikaela Shiffrin. I'm an Alpine ski racer and this is my first Olympics. I'm a visualizer. I definitely see everything I do before I do it. When I ski my best, I just feel like I'm dancing through the course and it's 60 seconds of heaven. Skiing is my high and competing is my discipline. Free skiing would be too much for me and be too much fun but ski racing is fun and it teaches me discipline, teaches me motivation and that's just the perfect balance of everything. I guess I just like the adrenaline of going out of the gate and feeling like, " Oh my gosh, I'm gonna die ." And then, when I go from that feeling of doubt to feeling like I'm on the top of the world and it's really cool.

Perfection includes all of the flaws of the run. If somebody makes a mistake but recovers from it sometimes that's faster than the guy who skied what everyone thought was a perfect line. But it all just boils down to making the most powerful turn. So, my definition of perfect would be making [ unk ] of the most powerful turns you can make in a row and that would hopefully get you to finish pretty fast. The success at this Olympics would be going, having the time of my life. Put my best effort out there. So, really put my best skiing on the hill. It wouldn't necessarily be a success to win a medal if it's not my best skiing.

If I come home with a medal and I feel like I put my best effort out there then that would be a success. I guess just have fun. It's always important to have fun. May the odds be ever in your favor.
