He's here to answer ten questions with Time Magazine. Mr. President, welcome. Thank you. So, you've had a very long and storied career with many achievements but two to me really stand out. One is that you are the father of Israel's nucleur program. And the other is that you are one of the fathers of the Oslo Peace Accords, for which you and Rabin and Arafat won the Nobel Prize. Which one are you most proud of, of those achievements? Peace. Peace? Yes. Even though the peace agreement kind of failed or didn't have a positive outcome? It didn't fail. It stalled up, it's not yet finished. And in a strange way, we recognize the Palestinian personality of what they did before us and they recognized the state of Israel. It takes time but we shall achieve this. I understand you're about to go on, on Facebook. Yes. Now you do know that that's going to, you have to limit your time on Facebook. It gets to be very much of a time suck. And I would imagine you have better things to do. Do you have a plan, you just gonna do five minutes a day or. I think that peace should be done, not only among governments, but among people. It was impossible before the Facebook. And today. Really, you think before Facebook, peace was impossible? Peace among people. Today young people, all people can, converse directly, without the intermediary of the government. And we started the rally, web and internet, that enables Arab youngster and Israeli youngsters to discuss this directly. There are already 60, 000 members. And it's refreshing because. All governments today have to listen to the people. To the streets or to the polls, doesn't matter. The politicians today are conditioned by the people more than the people are being governed by the politicians. Where do you stand in the debate on whether a nuclear capable Iran, poses an existential threat to Israel? I think Iran is the greatest danger of all time in our life. Because they don't respect any law. And because they are terrorizing because they are killing. They are the only continent in the world that threatens to destroy another country. To destroy Israel for example. As a long time proclaimer of peace. How do you feel about Israel's recent suggestion that it has the right to make a preemptive strike on Iran? I don't think that's a question. I mean, the question is whether if we should use all the capabilities to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear [ INAUDIBLE ]. And the pre, President Obama said that there are options on the table. But, if you can do it with economic sanctions, or political sanctions, much better. And I don't think you have to announce and declare everything what you are going to do. You shouldn't announce, things that will make the Iranian feel that nothing will happen. You've lost a lot of elections. Yes. How, what did that teach you, to lose so many elections? To try again. I want to tell you something, I don't want to apologize, but I lost elections for the wrong reasons. I have two records and one I recall I lost elections and the other I recalled. I carry through complicated treatments. Now, I think that the person should be judged, not by who he is, but what did he do. And my record of doing is somewhat better than the record of maybe my personality. You have no doubt that people will continue to stay in Israel and people will come to Israel? Yes, I think we have to make Israel attractive. Look Israel has her own attractions to date, it's the most dramatic country in the world. [ LAUGH ] You want drama move to Israel. Maybe it's more drama than a country, you know? There was not a moment of boredom. Everybody's engaged, everybody argues, and I leave Israel, I'm becoming a little bit bored, you know? Does Israel have nuclear weapons? Well, you would know this, right, cuz you're the guy. Israel has said very clearly, look. You don't say we should not introduce nuclear weapons, now let me say something. Israel doesn't intend to use nuclear weapons, but if people are afraid that we have it. Why not? It's a deterent. I want to tell you a small story. Amr Moussa was a foreign minister of Egypt, was a good friend of mine. One day he came to me and said Shimon, we are such good friends, take me to the [ INAUDIBLE ] let me have a look what's going on in [ UNKNOWN ] place. I told him are you crazy? I shall take you over there, and you'll see there's nothing there. You'll stop to be, you'll stop to be frightened and then I shall be out of my job. If you could have been leader of another country, what would you have chosen? I really don't know, I mean Dominicans will say like, they like America. I like France. But, if you you'll ask me if I would like to become a Frenchman, I'm not sure. Mr. President, thank you very much. Thank you.
