## Transcript

Oil prices quickly dipped but soon recovered after it was announced that a deal to curb Iran's nuclear capabilities was reached. The deal includes an eventual lifting of economic sanctions which is probably what's behind the price dip. It means Iran can soon sell some of its massive oil reserves. And millions of barrels of Iranian oil hitting the market could mean gas prices will be even lower for consumers. Iran is believed to be among the top five countries with the largest reserves of oil and natural gas and would eventually be able to release as many as a million barrels of oil a day into the market.

An influx of oil into the market isn't the only thing that could lead to a drop in prices. Iranian's will also be competing to gain a foothold in an all ready saturated playing field. Analysts think that means the country will sell cheap, which could drive prices down. But, a price drop wouldn't be instant. That's because sanctions won't be lifted immediately. It's believed the soonest Iran could see relief from sanctions is by the end of the year. Depending on if it meets the requirements. An analyst for Energy Aspects in London told The New York Times, the pace of recovery will be reduced by the poor state of Iran's industry.

Although that quote has since been removed from the article. But European and American energy companies could help that industry. The Wall Street Journal reports companies have already expressed interest in investing and moving into the country, although that's also unlikely until key sanctions are lifted. The US Congress has 60 days to approve or reject the deal, although President Barrack Obama said he would veto any attempt to block it.
