The South Carolina Legislature is one step closer to removing the Confederate flag from State House grounds. Well I gotta tell you, not one Confederate flag flew over a slave ship. Let's learn the real history. Despite the objections of a few, the South Carolina Senate passed by a 36 to 3 vote a proposal to remove the Confederate flag from where it currently flies outside the state capitol. This final vote in the Senate comes after a decisive 37 to 3 vote for a second reading. Reverend Clementa Pinckney, who was killed in the Emanuel AME Church shooting, was a member of the South Carolina Senate.

I regret. I regret that Clem is not here, and that I did not express gratitude to him while he He was still on this Earth. And while the bill passed easily through the Senate, some are predicting a more difficult path through South Carolina's House of Representatives. The Republican controlled house has 124 members and needs a two- thirds majority to advance. According to The Charlotte Observer, there are plans to amend the bill and replace the battle flag with another one, such as a state civil war era infantry flag. As the bill heads to the House, South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haley echoed her sentiments on the Confederate Flag saying, she wants the House to act swiftly and follow the Senate's lead.
