The reason I am in the chair is because of a motorcycle accident that I had on the way home from school. I hit a guardrail head on. And I went over the handlebars 35 feet down a hillside, and broke my neck and my back. >> So, I brought you some gifts today. >> Most collectives in California are storefront collectives right now, which is essentially like a liquor store. You can go in and it has a selection of all different types of herbs. And you can get, you know, whatever herb that matches up with your symptoms. Now, with the storefront collective, patients need to actually get to the storefront. The most severe patients in this industry, which are a lot of the ones that we have in this collective, cannot make it to a storefront collective because they can't get out of their house. They're wheelchair- bound or they're going through severe chemotherapy and they're bedridden. So, what we do is we go out and we deliver all of our medicine to our patients without a delivery charge. Free of charge, and we keep all of our medicine costs at one rate. There is no fluctuation, and we find the best possible herb we can find, and we get that to our patients. >> Some of the-- [ unk ]. I don't know if I brought this for you to try before. >> I think so. >> Probably with that piece of hash that I brought you. >> That hash was incredible. >> After the accident, I was paralyzed from chest down, which was quite hard to take. I took some getting used to it first couple of weeks. I was in the hospital dealing with that. And in the process of dealing with that, I find out that I had colon can-- you know, colon cancer. It was-- it was-- just the chemotherapy alone, the first time I had the shots, the sickness that-- oh, man. I got so sick. Half of it, 'cause you, you know, you're throwing-- I was throwing up so much, I almost passed out. >> Yeah. >> And I had-- I didn't have the stomach muscles that asked me to throw up 'cause I was paralyzed. The nerves spasm every once in a while, and my legs cramp really bad when they do. It causes my whole body to cramp, my chest, my lungs, my stomach, everything. I could feel the hit slowly relieving the pressure as I-- even as I take the hit itself. I could feel it slowly relieving the pressure of my legs. >> Well, for you, I mean, the experience of going to a pharmacy to pick up your medicine versus the experience of me coming here to drop off your medicine-- >> Well, as-- going to-- going to the pharmacy is really impersonal. I mean, you know, it's just you-- you're asked a number there and they don't care-- they don't give me a lot of loving or, you know, talk to you a lot about what you're going through and just like, [ unk ] not a doctor, they-- all they're doing is to distribute. >> There is no protection under the law for transporting cannabis. There is no part of the law that even discusses the transportation of cannabis as medicine. We are gonna go to one of my favorite patients today, Wendy, and we're gonna bring her medicine that we just put together for her to help her out with a few of her symptoms. >> We chose the collective because of the personal contact that we get. These guys, they ask questions, they wanna know how I feel, they wanna know how my family is. And that's important to me. The-- and just the fact that they put their lives on the line for me. I mean, that's amazing. I've had fibromyalgia for 13 years. And it took me at least 10 years to figure out that the regular prescriptions weren't doing it for me. This is oxytocin. I got 20- milligram tablets. This is the extended release that I take twice a day. And then I have the 5s, oxy 5s that are for breakthrough pain. I still take that once in a while. I don't like to 'cause I don't like to. I didn't feel like myself. I almost feel more of an addict on this than I do just using cannabis. I-- I'm trying to [ unk ] the smoke. When you're sick, and you have a disease, that disease becomes who you are, and it takes a while to work that out, to give up that active lifestyle that I had before-- where I ran and played with my kids, and rode bicycles, and went hiking and swimming and boating. And I can't do that anymore. I had to find a whole new family. And the collectives turned out to be my new family. >> This guy is [ unk ] still.
