When I first started this This was, I mean there would literally be 20 girls out here right now, but we've definitely alleviated some of it. Today we're running a demand suppression operation, which basically is commonly referred to as a John sting. [ MUSIC ] There's a lot of school of thought about if you can cut down on the customers, prostitution will go away. We set up an operation where we have undercover officers. Officers acting as prostitutes. The Johns basically know that this is one of the tracks where prostitutes walk. When we do this one person is assigned. My only job today is to watch the girls. [ SOUND ] All right. It's a go on the silver car. It's still sitting there facing north. He is now backing up to go eastbound on the road. [ SOUND ] Oh, now he's coming west. I basically just give my observations as well as I can to make it easier for them to identify the car when the squad car pulls out of their spot to do the takedown. The got them. For us it's mostly a scare tactic. We're trying to kill the demand. You know what I mean. Just to let these guys know Know that you just can't come to me and I need to pick up a prostitute. When she flips her hair up, that means that a deal's been done for sex. It's a go with the male. It's a go. All right, it's a go on the black car, still sitting at the stop sign. All right it's a go, car's facing east [ UNKNOWN ] still, she's walking away. It's right when you get out at that light to your left. [ MUSIC ] You got it. [ NOISE ] And then once the laws related to solicitation of a sex act and the Cook County public morals nuisance ordinance are violated, then the offenders are taken into custody and are processed by us. I'm gonna bring you back, I'm gonna explain everything to you, okay? All right? While what I'm doing right here is writing an ordinance violation. It's a solicitation of public moral act, okay? With the ordinance, the fine is $ 500 to a $ 1000. Plus there's an administrative toll fee of total vehicle. So it's a lot harder for a person to go home and explain I just spent $ 1, 200. OK, what I'm going to do, I'm going to uncuff you, you can sit down. I'm going to take your ID and process you, OK? You're not going to jail, alright? You're going to get a ticket, so cooperate with us and then you'll be on your way home. Okay, thank you. We've always been fighting this kind of stuff, but we didn't always have the laws. The laws have changed quite a bit. So now we can go after the predators and have the tools that we need to be able to lock them up and investigate them.
