## Transcript

No, it wasn't 11 year old ice cream eating little Lucy Lee, it was former little girl star turned big girl star Michelle Wie, who claimed the US Women's Open. And I'm just so grateful for everything. I'm honored to be up on this stage standing next to Stacy and Brook and everyone here and, it's a, it's a real honor for me. At age 13, she became the youngest person to make an LPGA cut. Now Wie, 24 years old, can say she's won her first LPGA major championship after Sunday's two under finish. After carding 68 in the first two rounds, the Pinehurst course brought her back down to earth with a 72 on day three.

Wie started the back nine with an eagle on ten, but double bogeyed later on 16. That didn't knock her off the course, though. She rebounded with a birdie on 17, and closed it out with a two putt par on 18. Wie shot even par on the final day. And held off an impressively strong push by Stacy Lewis. Louis finished even par, good for second overall, with an incredible eight birdies in the final day, matching the total number of birdies she had the previous three days. Last year's winner Inbee Park never recovered from an opening day 76, and finished the tournament tied for 43rd, at 13 over. And you may have heard a plenty of talk about Lucy Lee, that adorable 11 year old at the open.

She missed the cut after shooting back to back 78s, but she did stick around for the final rounds as a spectator. Maybe if Lee takes a few notes from LPGA's other young prodigy, Michelle Wie, she too could be on her way to capturing a first major championship sometime down the road. Thanks for watching.
