## Transcript

The officer told me, women need to stop spreading their legs like peanut butter, or rape is gonna keep on happening until the cows come home. Shocked, I left, feeling confused, violated, traumatized, and vulnerable. Just one graphic example of what seven current and former UConn students say they endured on the stores campus after reporting their sexual assaults. These four women came forward to claim an unwillingness to investigate by campus administrators. Community centers failed to interview and investigate those who could have testified for me. Disrespect for law enforcement. He even told me he didn't believe me.

And an overall lack of communication. It has been over five months. And I still have not been told, if any of my harassers or those threatening to rape or kill me, were ever identified. Which is why on Monday, they announced a formal civil rights complaint against UConn, to the U. S Department of Education. Their case, represented by well- known women's rights attorney, Gloria Allred. They're simply tired of seeing women being raped and sexually assaulted at the university. While the administration shows deliberate indifference. Allred argued what these women experienced is a violation of the federal title nine law.

Which guarantees students the right to an education. Free from the violation of their human, and civil rights. And says a formal investigation into the university must begin. In response, UConn sent us a statement saying in part, the University of Connecticut takes allegations of this nature extremely seriously. As the health and well- being of our students is our top priority. Our response protocol for these and other alleged incidents of sexual assault is in line with or exceeds best practices.
