Android. Fad or-- you know what? It's not a fad. There's like a bajillion Android handsets out there. If you just got your own, here are some must- have apps to get you started. Make sure you check out the full list over on Techland. We [ unk ] in the [ unk ] with that? Techland. Yeah. Get yourself a free Google Voice phone number and give that number out to everybody, instead of your cell phone number. When used with an Android phone, Google Voice gives you free text messaging, voice mail transcriptions and a whole lot of other cool options that you don't get with your regular carrier. And Google Voice integrates with your Android phones so that any calls you may cram your phone appear to be coming from your Google Voice number.

Shazam is the ultimate after you show someone that says, " What did your Smart phone do that my regular phone doesn't do ?" For a song playing on the radio and you wanna what it is, hold Shazam up to the speaker. It'll analyze the song and then give you the artist and track information, then you can go buy the song online, buy tickets to a concert, find out information about the artist. It literally leverages almost every piece of technology inside your phone all in one app. If you're looking to read electronic books, Amazon's Kindle app is a good choice because Amazon has developed Kindle apps for just about every mobile device under the sun.

So if you're looking for a dedicated [ unk ] reader, if you're gonna switch phones in the future, you wanna read on a tablet, chances are its got an Amazon Kindle app. Google Translate, near real time translation with conversation mode? Amazing. Pardon me, have you seen my pants? -[ unk ]

>> And last but not least, bar code scanners. It's good for scanning the bar code of items if you're thinking of buying to see if you can find it for less online. It also can read those weird QR codes you may see in magazines and on billboards. How will you know if Ken and Barbie are getting back together if your phone cannot read QR codes?
