[ MUSIC ] Time 100 is about the changemakers, the revolutionaries, the icons and thinkers who shape our world. I'm Radhika Jones, executive editor of Time. Since we began the Time 100, we've kept our eye on the progress of remarkable people. We've watched as technology innovators unlocked access to information on a global scale. In just a decade, pioneers like Google's Larry Page, Wikipedia's Jimmy Whales and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg have built a digital world where creating and sharing content are universal opportunities. We followed the entrepreneurs who've redefined doing business. Jeff Bezos started amazon.

com in 1994 and blazed the trail for online commerce. Howard Shultz americanized coffee culture. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates promote giving back to keep moving forward. Part financial oracle, part policy influencer, Buffet champions fiscal transparency and responsibility. And the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in the world. We've cheered as women ascended in the political arena. Condoleezza Rice stood as a powerhouse intellectual and President Bush's closest advisor. Hillary Clinton rose from First Lady to dominate the political scene as a New York senator, then as the first woman to have a real chance at the White House and most recently as Secretary of State.

Nancy Pelosi took the helm as the first woman speaker of the house. And German chancellor Angela Merkel emerged as the most influential leader in Europe. With a record 100 women in the 113th US Congress, the influence of women leaders continues to grow. [ MUSIC ] As we present this years Time 100, we celebrate the exceptional people and extraordinary ideas that have paved the way for progress. [ MUSIC ]
