[ BLANK_AUDIO ] Hello and welcome to Slooh's live coverage of the annual Perseid Meteors shower. We've got 5 hours of live Perseid watching tonight. I'm Paul Cox and as you can see I'm broadcasting tonight from series HQ in Connecticut. So we have super fast debris from a particular comet named Swift Tuttle, we'll talk about that comet separately because it's an amazing object all by itself. And so this material is very distinctive. All three of them were sleeping in their chamber when Persius arrived so he was able to sleep his way among the slumbering monsters until he reached Medusa. Perseus had been warned, of course, that to gaze directly upon the eyes of the Gorgon was to immediately turn to stone forever.

But how do you cut off someone's head when you can't even look at them? Perseus was smarter than your average demigod, so he grabbed hold of the shield that Athena had given him, positioning it so that he could see Medusa's reflection Then moving carefully through the cave, he unsheathed his sword, and in one swift motion, cut the head from Medusa's shoulders. [ MUSIC ] Now to tell the whole story of the meteor shower we really need to go back to the process by which these meteor showers actually form and how they occur and at the story is an object, or a type of object that really intrigued astronomers [ UNKNOWN ] and people from all over the world all conscious for Millenia and that is the comet.

Now the Persians are all remnants of particular comet that was discovered around the time of the Civil War and the comet is Swift Tuttle It's a rather exceptional comet. [ MUSIC ]
