## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] Our friends at Findthebest. com have complied a list of 16 of the biggest brands that Apple needs to land in order for Apple Pay to succeed. Now let's start with the brands Apple does have on board, Chevron, Walgreen, McDonald's, Macy's, Staples, Disney, Whole Foods, and Toys " R" Us. So we have some representation among four critical industries, gas, drug stores, fast food, and clothing. The week point here is grocery stores. Whole Foods is a decent start, but Kroger, Safeway, and Publix are all either ambivalent or anti- Apple Pay which could spell big trouble for the service. These four big retailers, Wal- Mart, CVS, Best Buy and Rite- Aid are lost causes.

They're the biggest CurrentC advocates of all. CurrentC is a mobile payment system supported by dozens of America's biggest retailers. It can tie participating retailers into exclusivity contracts when they agree that they won't use Apple Pay. So these six big companies are long shots. They're all CurrentC supporters but they've been less vocal in their distaste for Apple Pay. Several are likely tied up in currency exclusivity contracts but if Apple pay order really take off you might expect a few of these to betray the currency faithful and start accepting payments through Apple. Then we have the potentials.

None of these six big companies have been particularly receptive towards Apple pay but they're not aligned with currency either which means that either faction could win them over. Both Home Depot and Nordstrom especially seem like natural fits. Both of these big retailers have half heartedly embraced Apple Pay with mobile apps that will integrate with the new touch ID authentication feature. But neither features the simple one tap to pay experience which will likely be critical for Apple Pay adoption. And then Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are the young brands. And they are not as big as the app from [ UNKNOWN ] retailers, but they can each help sell Apple Pay through brand association.

Making together these companies to win Apple more users in a crucial young demographic. Apple has the technology and the user experience we know, now it's time to win over these 16 brands. If the company chips away. The currency strong hold even one retailer at a time. You'll be in a much better position to win not only the current battle, but the larger mobile payment war. To read more head over to time. com and search for 16 retailers Apple must land for Apple Pay to succeed. [ MUSIC ]
