## Transcript

Kim Davis has appealed a judge's ruling from last week that found her in contempt of court. Davis is a Kentucky clerk from Rowan county who has been refusing to give anyone a marriage licence, even after the US Supreme Court legalized gay marriage across the country back in June. She sited her religious beliefs as the reason behind that decision, even though in August the court refused to excuse her from issuing same sex licences Davis was found in contempt of court September third and US district judge David Bunning sentenced her to jail until she complies. Just one day later, several deputy clerks in Davis's office began issuing same sex marriage licenses but Davis's attorney stated they are invalid without her signature.

Although Davis appealed Bunning's ruling, NBC reports she's now trying to go against State governor for bureaucratic changes that would accommodate her religious opposition. Governor Steven Beshear had previously ordered all county clerks to follow the Supreme Court ruling. Davis asked she be removed from jail while she does this. She also refuses to resign from her job as county clerk.
