## Transcript

Long, lazy days in the sun with a good book. What could be better? I'm times books editor and here are a bunch of books you can throw in your bag wherever you're headed this summer. There's two books everyone has been talking about this year on the fiction side. Yesteryear by Carol Clare Burke, a Tradwife influencer, wakes up in 1855 and has to actually live the life that she's been selling on social media. On the non-fiction side, Strangers by Belle Burden. This is a memoir of a shocking divorce, and it's made countless headlines this year. Here are some other books that I've loved so far this year.

If you want a beautiful novel about friendship and found family Kin by Tayari Jones, if you want a glam, racy New York City novel with elements of dark romance and thriller, take the plunge with Leila Razek. And if you love short stories, Lauren Groff's Brawler and Ruth Ozeki's The Typing Lady. Here are some books that aren't quite out yet, but are worth adding to your list for later this summer. The latest from Ann Patchett Whistler. This one actually just came out and is going right into my travel bag. Jenny Jackson, the author of Pineapple Street, is back with the shampoo effect at the end of June, and Colson Whitehead is wrapping up his Harlem trilogy with Cool Machine in July.
