Sure you're on Facebook. But are you really on it? Here's some simple Facebook tips and tricks that don't require any hacking or [ unk ] of any type. Let's start with tweaking your privacy settings. A lot of people don't know this is wide open when you join. Go to Account, Privacy Settings, and I would suggest switching it to either Friends Only or Custom. Facebook's recommended settings, everyone can see your status, photos and posts, everyone can see your bio. People you're not friends with can see photos and videos of your enemy. Come on. Cutting down on small talk. If you're on Facebook, you know it's the chat bar in the lower right hand corner, and this happens-- without fail, anytime you're surfing, looking around Facebook.

In order to turn this off, go to Options under chat, and Go offline, and then, never touch it again. Leave it offline. For people you sorta do wanna talk with, you can mention them in your status update by putting the @ sign before their name. So, I'm gonna mention Christopher Straub here. He was on Project Runway, and I actually went to high school with him. And when people see that post update, they can click on his name and see all the great work he's doing. Avoid getting fired. You've heard of people getting fired because of something stupid they wrote on Facebook. If you happen to have friended your boss for some reason or another, you can hide your status updates from individual people by clicking this little lock right here, then Customize, and then, Hide from.

Start typing the name of the person, in my case, Peter Ha, who's my boss. Click on his name, and then, save the setting. You can make it the default setting, so nothing you type shows up in front of your boss. Now, I just wanna say for the record, in real life, I happen to like my boss very much. If you have a job where you hate your boss enough to complain about it on Facebook, maybe you could see about getting transferred to a different Abercrombie or something. And then, of course, have a little fun by causing a Facebook- wide ruckus. Type something like " Prime example of an awful Facebook profile ," and paste in this link.

Make sure the end says 73322363. And anyone who clicks on that link in your update will see their own Facebook profile. Oh, my. How droll. Make sure you don't do that on your first day at the new Abercrombie, though. You don't wanna burn new bridges there.
