>> A man suspected of drunk driving plowed through the front of a southern California home and killed a 60- year- old recovering alcoholic. The case is getting attention not just because of video from the scene Sunday but who died there.

>> A man was sleeping inside that room when the driver lost control around 3 this morning on the 26000 block of Pacato Drive.

>> Really kind of surreal, right? I mean it was one of those things in the middle of the night. It was a little, you know, just not what you're expecting and then I started thinking oh my God, is there somebody in there, you know that type of thing and we didn't know at that point.

>> Orange County Sheriff's Deputy say the car pushed Ken Jackson's bed into a nearby bathroom killing him. They also told reporters on the scene this isn't the first time they've arrested the Mission Viejo suspect on suspicion of DUI.

>> So now he has 2 pending. He has 1 conviction. This would be the 2nd one that he has pending. So this would in total be 3 cases.

>> Making the story all that more difficult to deal with, Jackson's friends told KTTV he once struggled with alcohol as well. They said Jackson who like to rebuild motorcycles has been sober 27 years.

>> I'm just thankful that he didn't suffer that it was very quick.

>> He liked his bikes and he had a lot of tight close friends and I know a lot of them are grieving tonight.

>> Police say besides felony DUI, the 27- year- old suspect could face manslaughter or more severe charges for Jackson's death. For TIME, I'm Cliff Judy.
