## Transcript

I'm Bryan Walsh, Senior Editor with TIME magazine. My pick for this year's Person of the Year is Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Back when I was Tokyo bureau chief for TIME in 2006, Abe was on his first go- around as Japan's top leader and he failed miserably and to resigning after a year because of stomach problems. Then at the end of 2012, Abe came roaring back being reelected to Japan's top office and leading his party back into power. His patented Abenomics flooding the Japanese economy with cheap money ends up bring the country out of its decade- long economic slump. He's also been suited for muscular foreign policy challenging China over disputed territory and looking to remake Japan's pacifist constitution.

It's easy to forget about Japan even though it has the 3rd largest economy in the world, but this year Shinzo Abe made it impossible to ignore and that's why I think he should be TIME's Person of the Year.
