## Transcript

Olympics silver medal skier Gus Kentworthy surprised the sports world thursday with an ESPN cover and three simply words. It's at the point where I'm ready to, kind of, open up and let the world see me for me and I hope the world accepts it. Kentworthy told ESPN he started coming out to his family and friends about two years ago and he initially promised himself he would come out publicly only after winning the gold in Sochi. Saying I didn't want to come out as the silver medalist from Sochi. I wanted to come out as the best freeskier in the world. Last year Kenworthy became one third of the American trio that swept the men's slope style event at the Sochi olympics.

But for people who aren't huge X Games fans He's probably best known for rescuing five orphan pups and Soji. I have two that live with me in Denver. How are they adjusting? Because they were roughing it over there. [ LAUGH ] They never adjusted they were just like yeah, this is us, this is our life now. After his announcement Kenworthy was met with tons of support including Miley Cyrus who used to be romantically linked to the Olympian. Ken Worthy joins many other athletes who have come out in recent years Most notably, soccer player Robby Rogers and former NFL player Michael Sam. Hinworthy's next sporting event will be a return to the X- games in January.
