## Transcript

That Starbucks addiction you have, just got a bit more expensive to keep up. Prices for medium and large coffees will be especially frothy, up between $ 0. 10 and $ 0. 15, and tall and venti lattes, and mocha drinks, up to $ 0. 15 to $ 0. 20. The cafe price's hike will take effect effect June 24th. There will also be an 8 % price hike on bags of Starbucks branded coffee beans set to go into effect July 21st. The 12 ounce bag, for example, is supposed to climb about a dollar to ten bucks. Many speculate a recent drought in Brazil is to blame for the Starbuck's price hike. When you pick off the cherries which contain the beans, a lot of them are very black and hard and won't be any use.

GM Smucker, the company behind Folgers and Dunkin Donuts, announced in June it would raise prices on its coffee products by an average of 9 % due to the surge in coffee bean prices. Coffee prices from Brazil, the worlds biggest producer, have jumped more than 50 % since January. But Fortune quotes a Starbucks spokesman who said the Seattle based company considers many factors before adjusting prices. Coffee costs historically account for less than 10 % of operating costs, so other factors, like fuel, energy and labor costs, are also considered. One loophole for Starbucks patrons who own a Keurig, Starbucks K cups prices will remain the same.

Also, the company says it won't raise prices on in store food. Did you order the Lemon Al Fizzio? A bit of news Starbucks is probably prouder to share. The coffee company also plans to expand its handcrafted sodas June 24th, releasing three new flavors in select stores across the country. Thanks for watching. I'm Jamal Andress.
