[ MUSIC ] You know that, that saying that 90 % of everyone is one or two paychecks away from this. [ MUSIC ] [ SOUND ] I mean, this is reality. Well, we're in Fresno, California. And this particular location is also considered one of the more Well, it's a high risk neighborhood. Here, we have concentrated poverty. My wife and I and our kids. We live just a couple blocks down the street here. I've seen you guys around. But I don't, I haven't, found, got your names yet. Adam? Yeah. I'm pastor Harleman. I'm over at the step of faith church right here. With Ricardo Gonzales. He's out senior pastor. Okay, I, I haven't, I haven't checked it out yet. Yeah. So I'll go down there. [ LAUGH ] That's awesome. Nice meeting you guys. I'll see you around okay? Alright. Take it easy. Yeah, you too. [ MUSIC ] As Americans, one of the things you do as a responsible adult. Is, is you buy a house if you have the opportunity to do so. When I was only grossing about 38 thousand a year at the time, you know, and for a family of six that's not, that's not a very high income. This is the first and only home we, we've actually ever purchased. Really, th, the last two years that we were in the house were in default during that time, and, which eventually led to foreclosure. I admit it freely, our, our experience, as, as difficult as it's been, is, is pretty tame compared to what others have experienced. [ MUSIC ] Here in the valley theres no, I mean there's nothing here, I mean no jobs, none. There's 5 or 6000 people residing and probably a six, seven, eight, block area of that are homeless. They assume everybody down here does drugs, everybody down here has a criminal record, no. [ SOUND ] I've been down here a year, this coming Thanksgiving. And I'm down here and can't find a job because everybody sees this patch on my face when they see me come in for a job interview or a job application and they see an insurance liability. It's upsetting to a lot of people. It hurts to be this way. We had money before. Now we don't have anything. And every day is a constant struggle. But you know what? I'm gonna hang in there. I ain't gonna give up. Because I am an American. And I'm not gonna watch my America go down the drain. But there's a paradox going because. Economically things are going south for Fresno. And, and I think it's situations like this that, that can bring out the, you know, the best in people. [ MUSIC ] When I started doing the food give- aways back four years ago, the concept was I'm gonna feed the poor, and as the food lines started to develop, I've seen homeless people. Probably within a year's time, the people who had lost their jobs. Surpassed the homeless. Okay, we're gonna get started. [ FOREIGN ]. Okay? [ FOREIGN ]. Okay? [ FOREIGN ]. Okay? [ INAUDIBLE ] Country's bad right now. It's really bad. And it's just gonna get worse. We've been in a state of being below what's considered the poverty line for a number of years now. At first I really struggled with it because this was not my intended journey. But there's no shame in financial poverty. It, it happens to various people for various reasons. [ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ].
