You can feel the separation. It's so-- It's so horrible for me, I can't-- I can't describe it. >> This November will mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, once the heavily fortified dividing line between East and West Germany. Much of it was taken down with the collapse of Communism and the reunification of this country. Tourists now come to see what's left of it. >> My family actually came from Eastern Germany and I want to show the history of our family, to my children, because they have no idea what it mean if a city is parted and the country is parted. >> The first question most of the people say when they arrive in Berlin or when they think about Berlin is, 'Where is the Wall?' >> Rosemarie Wirthmueller's company, Antenna Audio, was commissioned by the city of Berlin to help visitors trace the path of the wall, which once stretched 103 miles. Now, only a few sections remain visible. >> There is only one other space in the center of the city and there is very, very little other original wall to be found. >> To find the fragments and show what's no longer there, Antenna Audio created a multimedia device called the MauerGuide or WallGuide. >> One of the most important features of the WallGuide is that it's GPS- triggered, which means that you are located by a satellite. Use a half a city map and it shows you where you are, but it also shows you where the wall used to be. >> With the help of the device which shows you videos and photos of the former situation at that point, you can really compare how did it look like in here in former times. >> This intersection was once Checkpoint Charlie, the busy crossroads between East and West Germany that became a symbol of the Cold War. It was the site of many escape attempts and a tense stand- off in 1961 between US and Soviet tanks. The MauerGuide shows you archival footage as you stand at the intersection. Today, the only soldiers here are actors who make a living posing for photos. All that's left of the Wall here is this plaque. But even that can evoke deep feelings for those who remember the Wall and what it meant for Germany and the world. >> I want him to learn something about it, to learn something for his life. That he will perhaps fight, that it doesn't happen anymore. The wall is a good sign that there will be always forces who try to steal your freedom, but you have to find ways to walk around or to undermine the wall.
