Thank you very much for joining us. Your new album, it's your second solo release, it is called Apocalyptic Love. Your playing with Miles Kennedy and the Conspirators. In your first solo album you had a bunch of guest artists come into to sing, Ozzy Osbourn, Fergie Gabriel, Kid Rock. You didn't decide to go that route this time? No that record is a very sort of what I would consider a very isolated one off project, that's something I had in he back of my mind for a while. And when I finally have the opportunity to do it, I did it. What happened was I met Miles Kennedy, and he sang a couple songs and so we did a tour to support that record and it during the tour I thought that if I. Should make another record and just do it with just him. Did, did you ever at one point say, I'm just gonna do this lead singing thing myself? There's been a couple times where trying to find someone to front a project, just been difficult and I thought, well, God I'll just do it myself. But I just don't want to. I don't like doing, I don't even like humming to myself, let alone getting up in front of a bunch of people and singing. Tell us about the hat. Its funny that its become something that is hugely recognized, it was just a hat that I picked up back in 1985 or 1986. And it just, I saw it in a store window and I thought that's cool, you know, so I, I picked that hat up and I wore it that night at a show that we did. And just became a thing with me. And I heard a couple stolen. Oh really? I was gonna ask. Is it like insured or something? No, I, I had one stolen and I got it back because the guy who stole it was dumb enough to try and sell it on E- bay. And then I had another one stolen in a bar that I passed out in, and I never got to get that one back. Oh shit. This July is gonna be 25 years since Appetite for Destruction, at the time did you think you were gonna be doing this 25 years down the road? As far as being a musician is concerned? Of course. I never thought ahead 25 years, but I don't think at any point since I picked up the guitar did I ever think I could ever put it down. What sort of differences have you noticed between then and now in terms of you know? A lot of the surroundings have changed. And I, I'm not excessively drinking and doing all that stuff that I was doing at that particular point in time. But as far as everything else, as far as you know, guitar playing and writing and all that kind of stuff. I think I've just been trying to hone my skills from since then. You know, basically same sort of direction, you know? I haven't really all of a sudden changed styles or anything like that. And in terms of like off the road. I mean your lifestyle is different, you got I think two kids now. How do you tell your kids you know, you're gonna go off and be on tour and be a rock star for a while. They were, they were both born while I was doing this. So it's pretty much a normal part of life, but they've, they get to fly out and, and hang out with me on the road a lot. If they came to you and said they wanna be a musician or a guitar player, what would you tell them? I'd be looking carefully to see where the passion. You know, to make sure that they were really ready for this. Because it's, it, it's an insane commitment and it takes an incredible. Mm- hm. Amount of hard work and dedication, and you know, rock and roll on the surface doesn't look like that, but it, it definitely does. April rock and roll hall of fame induction. You guys were honored. Axl Rose shortly before the event says he's not going. Can you talk a little bit about just sort of what went through your mind when that happened? Nothing. I mean, it was, it just gave me some clarity I guess at that moment that wasn't coming. Cuz I didn't know exactly for sure what was gonna happen. And and at that point, you know, the rest of us had already sort of committed to going. And so I thought well, we, we should probably play, you know? Had he contacted any of you individually? Or he just sent the press release and where's, where you hear about it? Yeah there's, we don't communicate. And then you went on stage with a, with a bunch of the ori, original members and, and played. Mm- hm. How is that? It was great. I always looked at success by you know, the amount of enthusiasm and the amount of fans that we had. It was never about record sales per se or chart position or anything like that, but on a mass scale of recognition of the band had for the actual music itself, and just what a significant impact that the group had. I had a different out of body experience at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so it was very interesting. Looking back on the Guns N' Roses days, is there anything knowing what you know now that you would have done differently? No. Alright. Well, Slash, thank you very much for joining us.
