## Transcript

>> Thieves stole the Christmas gifts the California soldier paid for fighting for his country so you had to know his neighbors weren't going to let that stand for long. Corporal Christopher Petrossian was just about to board a plane to leave Afghanistan for the holidays, when he got a call from his wife in Lodi; burglars broke in and stole all the family's Christmas presents. With the thieves breaking in only about a week before Christmas, Petrossian didn't have much time or money to replace the $ 5, 000 worth of presents and electronics leading to Grinch headlines in local media. But by Sunday night, the soldier and his family received help from the community including a big donation from Lodi police and firefighters.

>> Since the news of the theft, people have come to his home and have donated enough money to replace all of the gifts.

>> I don't know if it makes to feel really good. Some time I feel-- I feel bad of letting people help us because we worked hard for what we have.

>> Petrossian's been deployed in Afghanistan in the last 17 months, and if you think his town's generosity is finished, think again. A Lodi police sergeant helping to organize donations told ABC, we have even more gift cards and electronic items to give them. It's going to be nice to deliver them and see their faces.
