## Transcript

>> John Kasich was doing what Republicans always do which is to focus on the business community. First, at a machine shop in Youngstown, and then at a head- grooming products company in Alliance where he met with a group of business leaders.

>> What we're in here today is say how we're gonna grow the economy because that's all we care about and what is it that you think-- look, a big chunk of things is to ask people, what is it that you think we should do? You live here. You know what the assets are. How do we leverage them?

>> I've known John Kasich for about 15 years now and he's always been one of my favorite politicians. Not that I agree with him, but he is one of those Republicans who actually wants to think about how to make government better, how to make it more efficient rather than just cut services, cut taxes, that's it. I've always enjoyed watching him and I've always said he's a-- he's a pretty attractive candidate.

>> Many of them here today that their margins are thin. When you tax them too much, you hurt their ability to make a profit.

>> But one of the big things I find in politics today is people do not know how to think creatively. They all seem to be stuck in this-- in this mold somehow. And that's not the way I offer aid. So, when people have good ideas rather than give them 10 reasons why it won't work, I take it in and then say, okay. Is it practical and can we do it without putting that no, no, no. Let me give you 10 reasons why it won't work. I mean, you don't wanna do things that don't make sense. But at the same time, you wanna be on the cutting edge.

>> The free fall has been stuck. We are now in Ohio in a period of recovery. It's a slow recovery.

>> Ted Strickland has been having a series of meetings with displaced workers which is what Democrats do. They meet with the workers. He couldn't find very many displaced workers in the town of Delaware. And so, he met with some of his supporters.

>> I was in Lordstown, Ohio. We celebrated the first Chevy Cruise come off the assembly line. The Chevy Cruise gets a 40 miles to the gallon and is not [ unk ]. It's stylish. It's affordable. It's comfortable. It's safe and it would not be built had it not been for the rest of you in the American auto industry.

>> What we've seen here this afternoon with Governor Ted Strickland after seeing John Kasich earlier in the morning is the Democratic politician who is 12 points down but isn't on the defense visit at all. He gave a very solid presentation of what he's accomplished. He's balanced the budgets here. He acknowledged that it's tough times. He talked about how the President's programs like the auto industry bailout was helping Ohio.

>> You know if you wanna challenge those that say the Obama administration and the Democratic friends in Congress haven't dealt with the economy. I said to them yesterday-- for those who would sacrifice, meekly sacrifice our future, I said to them, look at this car. That plant and other plants would be closed. Those jobs would be non- existent.

>> So, if you thought that Democrats might be on the defensive because of all that you see in the media and all that's been coming out of Washington, one of the things I've seen so far in this trip is that they're not.

>> Now, I just think that there are some people who simply don't understand the depth of this economic lapse, how serious it was and what it could have turned into.

>> They're fighting. They're not acknowledging that times are tough, but that they have a record that they believe they can run on. We'll see.
