## Transcript

I feel like our best hope to get back to a constitutional government with 18 enumerated powers is in the Republican party [ APPLAUSE ]. So but I have to admit I've been very disappointed over the past five, ten years. And so, but I won't give up hope. I would tell the republicans. I would tell Donald, that these are people that are out there, that have been marginalized for so many years. They are out there. I know in the voting [ INAUDIBLE ], it's a small community. I totally agree with that. It is a small, voting community. But, they're out there. We need to deal with it properly. We need to be open about it, because it is about the kids, the next generation growing up.

It's not about me, it's not about other older transpeople that have been out there for a while. Is about the next generation coming up. And we have to provide a safe environment for them. It was easy to come out as trans. It was harder to come out as Republican, okay? I tell it's easier to be gay in the Republican party than it is to be Republican in the LGBT community. Although we didn't get as far as we hoped, this platform will reflect LGBTQ people. It's a conversation that has started and it's not going to go away. This is the highest visibility that we've had in a long time in terms of talking about these issues in conservative spaces.
