I want to assure Kenyans that the perpetrators of this heinous act will be pursued, to face the full force of the law. Al Shabaab, operating out of Somalia, claiming credit for a deadly attack yet again in Kenya, two days in a row, now. The raid monday claimed at least 15 lives along the Kenyan coast, terror group Al- Shabaab claimed responsiblity for the attack. The attack Monday comes less than 24 hours after an attack on the Kenyan village of Mpeketoni which claimed more than 48 lives and was also reportedly carried out by Al- Shabaab. The Guardian says, gunmen reportedly went door to door demanding to know if the men inside were Somali- speaking Muslims. Those who were not, were shot dead. Among the victims we football fans who had been watching a World Cup match at a video hall. Others were dragged from their homes. In a statement released by Al Shabab, the group claimed the attack was in response to the Kenyan government's brutal oppression of Muslims. It also issued this warning to tourists. Kenya is now officially a war zone. Any tourists visiting the country do so at their own peril. Though Al- Shabab has claimed responsibility for these attacks, the Kenyan president says the group isn't to blame. The attack in Lamu was well- planned, orchestrated. And politically motivated ethnic violence against the Kenyan community. This therefore was not an Al- Shabaab terrorist attack. The New York Times notes however, President Uhuru Kenyatta provided no evidence to support his assertion. And many believe he wants to shift the blame to avoid mounting criticism over his perceived inability to protect Kenyan people. These two attacks are the most deadly to hit Kenya since September of 2013, when Al Shabob carried out a lethal raid on Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi killing at least 67 people.
