While reproductive tech like IVF isn't anything new, egg freezing, which stores women's eggs for the future, is a new frontier. But fertility goals post on social media, and celebrities from Sofia Vergara to Olivia Munn Discussing their decision to freeze their eggs has led to a mainstream conversation about the process and has more women asking how much does it cost and how do I pay for it. From the initial phase of freezing eggs with a single cycle ranging from $ 5000 to $ 8000, to refrigeration and the final stage of implantation, the entire process can cost upwards of $ 30000. Medical insurance doesn't cover most of the procedures, so patients are left footing the bill with the assistance of credit card debt, medical loans and fertility clinic payment plans. Still, for women interested in taking the plunge, there are greater financing options than ever before. Even tech companies like Apple and Facebook have started covering the cost as an employee perk. But having a baby is expensive and adding to those cost before reaching pregnancy puts women in a financial complicated position. There's also no certainty that the procedures will lead to a successful pregnancy. A recent study found the most women who freeze their eggs never end up using them. With less than 10 % of women returning for implantation. The thing that you absolutely need to know about egg freezing is that, there is no guarantee that it will lead to a baby down the line. Some research shows that even if you are under 38 years old. You only have out of 50- 50 shot of seeing a life birth from this procedure. If it's for a piece of mind, like the women that I interviewed I would say it's probably [ INAUDIBLE ] if you have an extra 10 to $ 15000 to spend. If you are going to go into debt to pay for this, you might wanna seek financial advice. Because there are no guarantees. Kids cost a lot of money and if you're spending a ton of money just to get pregnant, it could lead to endless financial trouble down the line.
