I am overcome with joy, overcome with joy, because a Verizon iPhone, for me, means I am finally, finally free from a tyranny of having to write another Verizon iPhone rumor post. As a tech writer, it got a little old. After a while, you know, after the 30th Verizon iPhone rumor post, it starts to wear on me a little bit. So, you thought I was gonna stay free from the tyranny of AT & T, no. I'll take not having to write another iPhone rumor post. Can I? No? Okay. So, now that the Verizon iPhone is coming, if you're an AT & T iPhone user, should you just jump ship right away? Should you just get off the AT & T network and clear it up so your old buddy, Doug, can make a phone call here in Boston?

I will actually give you a few reasons not to switch and then you can base your decision on that, as far as the phone itself is concerned, it's an iPhone 4, same basic iPhone 4 that's been available on AT & T since June. Now, as far as data speeds are concerned, AT & T's 3G network is radically a little over twice as fast as Verizon's 3G network. If you're a frequent traveler, of course AT & T works in far more countries than Verizon. Thanks to its use of the GSM standard, the global system from all communications. The Verizon voice service only works in 40 countries and data service in 20 countries.

Countries like Guam, Turks and Caicos Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and another whimsical places normally kind of Jimmy Buffett's songs. And finally, there's the simultaneous voice and data argument. You can surf the web with an AT & T iPhone while you talk on it. I've never once used this feature. Don't let that swayed you though, get off my network and let's remember the main takeaway here is that I don't have to write any more Verizon iPhone rumor post ever again. Can I please open this? It's not mine. I found it on someone's desk. It said something about retirement and I figured hey, I'm retired from writing about the Verizon iPhone.

I would call someone to tell him how excited I am but I can't make any calls.
