American Coco Gauff, the number two ranked women's tennis player in the world, is going for her second career Grand Slam championship on Saturday, when she'll face Irina Sabalenka, the number one ranked player in the world, in the French Open final in Paris. This is golf's second French Open final appearance in 2022. She lost in straight sets to IGA Swiatek of Poland in an interview last year. Coco Gauff told me that she had anxiety attacks before that match between sets in that match. She also retreated to the bathroom to shed tears. She said the match was over before it even started. She bounced back to win the 2023 US open more than a year later, so expect a more poised and confident Coco Gauff in this 2025 French Open final.

Coco is playing some of her best tennis ever. This clay court season, this will be the third straight clay court tournament final that she's reached last month in Madrid. She did lose in the Madrid final to Sabalenka, losing in a second set tiebreaker. This is Sabalenka's third straight Grand Slam final appearance, and a win will give her four career Grand Slam championships, stamping her supremacy on the modern game. As for Gauff, seems like we've been talking about her forever. But don't forget she's only 21 years old, so win or lose, there's a safe bet that there'll be more finals in Coco Gauff future.
