## Transcript

I think I have always been devoted, but the problem is that you have to go far. You have to cross that line. You have to be able to become completely offensive. And, don't get me wrong, but that's the joy of it too, that... That's where I think the mastery of it all comes in. [ LAUGH ] And throughout my career as a comedian, which is very long, it's been about 35 years, it's changed drastically for women. The way that there's so many more women out there doing comedy, that there's so many more very successful women. Not that there weren't in the past, but they were just so few. The only person that I knew who had really broken through was Joan Rivers who was incredibly successful.

And yet there weren't as many like her around at that time. And so now there's quite a few more Women, which I think is really great. Being a rape survivor, those words, that is the perspective. It's not, a victim, it's, a survivor. To be able to find a way to talk about it, to bring it into comedy, I think is really courageous and tremendous. The # MeToo movement is So incredibly important in getting these ideas across that we can tell our stories and to find a place of peace with it. The future of Asian- American representation in television and movies is actually getting a lot better. There's no way that Hollywood can justify casting Scarlett Johanson or Tilda Swinton, they can't.

Yeah, cast a white actress to play the Yeah, [ UNKNOWN ]. Obviously, it was just a huge mistake and a huge miscalculation, and a very devastating thing. So, I think that Hollywood is really understanding it can't do it. It can't do that type of stuff anymore and that's a big deal. So, I think that that's gonna Create a big shift and we're gonna see a lot more Asians and Asian Americans on big screen. Which is great. I don't know if I ever really looked at myself as a role model. But I'm glad if I am because I know that especially for Asian American artists that they've been able to look to my work and say I'm able to do this.

I can do this. Or they Would tell their parents to look to my career and say, see it's possible. And so that to me is an incredible honor. [ MUSIC ]
