[ BLANK_AUDIO ] I have a hard time. I would really rather call him Mister Lincoln [ LAUGH ]. He calls me Molly still sometimes. But, you know, that's not an odd thing for Actors to remain in, in some land that no one, unless you're an actor can understand. It, it was very important to me to somehow create the complications of a long- term marriage. Especially with two very complicated. And emotionally challenged people, so literally the messiness of marriage and the gooeyness of unresolved conflicts and a deep, deep, deep love for each other. Daniel's generosity is, is really unheard of. And I needed to find a relationship with this man instantly.

So I came to his house and he, you know, said, would, shall we have coffee or something? And I said no. No like Mary, I, want to get you out of the house. That's what Mary did. I sit in lieu of a carriage, get your shoes. He put his shoes on and we walked for hours really. I don't know how long, but I knew it, Daniel. I didn't have to hide how I work. And so I could be, I could have the accent, I could be totally, the walk I wanted, I could be the relationship I wanted, except he, we were in and out. I was able to say to him, I need to touch you, I hope you don't mind [ LAUGH ]. You know, touch, touch, touch, touch, okay fine, I'm fine now.

There's some things you can't act, it doesn't mean you have to literally live with someone for 20 years, but I have to create the feeling, the intimacy of, of a man you've lived with and slept in the same bed with for 20 years and had children with, and that, you have to, you have to have a. You have to have a place. You have to have a physicality. It was the only preparation that we had, and then we hit the ground running. It was the most magnificent work experience I've ever had in my life. I'll never have it again like that, and I will cherish it till the day I die.
