[ MUSIC ] The best part of being a surfboard maker is being able to surf my own boards. [ LAUGH ] [ MUSIC ] I had a lot of trouble finding a board that I really enjoyed surfing when the waves are small, weak, don't have a lot of power behind them. For a long time I thought it was my surfing, my ability until I had started making my own boards. From the first time that I popped up on my first wave on the first board that I made for myself, my friends started noticing that my surfing was instantaneously better. It was from that that my friend started saying, hey, can, can you shape me a board and it just sort of skyrocketed on its own.

[ MUSIC ] In college, I studied biological oceanography, and I specifically worked with underwater robotics. I took my knowledge of physics and how surfboards interact and work with the ocean. And, came up with some designs and surfed better than any other board I'd surfed in my life. The total volume of water that the surfboard displaces in the ocean is a proper total size for a surfer's given experience ability, their height, their weight so that it's the perfect board for them. Every surfboard that I make has its own unique personality. It can have your personality built into that board, so that you can surf more like yourself, and how you want to out in the water.

My opinion is a surfboard becomes a piece of art even before its started being shaped in the design process. You know, it is in some ways an art form. In other ways it's an engineering process, and to me, it's, when you find the perfect blend of the two, that you get a truly unique product. [ MUSIC ] To me, it's not just the functionality of my surfboards that's important to me. It's the overall encompassing experience that you get from the surfboard. Not only do I want it to improve your surfing, but I want it to improve your mood, your quality of life. My goal is to create more fun in the water for surfers.

Whatever that surfer defines as fun, I wanna make the perfect board that creates that experience for them. I wanna keep innovating, keep creating new shapes and tweaking existing shapes to be the perfect surfboards for any break anywhere in the world. [ MUSIC ]
