## Transcript

This sad New England, Journal medicine article about coffee consumption looked at whether coffee drinking in the short-term effects side, effects on the heart. So not meant extra heart beats or how active you were or how much you sleep. So they did not see meaningful difference really in how many extra beats the heart hat in this too. Weak. I think on its own one, can't say a whole lot about that if you just took it by itself but if you look at all the other work that's been done over the last 10 years that suggests coffee consumption. Does not have adverse effects on the heart or may even be beneficial for the heart if it's in line with that this significance of people having a few hundred extra heart beats.

So in this case it was about 50 over the course of the day on the ventricular. So that's the main commentators of the heart side. And no difference on the other side of the heart that difference is not going to make it much difference clinically or in someone's health over the course of a long time. For people who do have heart disease that actually turns out that there doesn't seem to be an adverse effects there. Either, even though you do hear that a lot if you have that normal heart rate, the forest a lot of people will assume you should not drink coffee because people tend to feel jittery when they drink coffee but Other research has suggested, that's not the case.

And there's really not a reason to stop drinking coffee, either for healthy people or people with heart disease. That mean the main question, people want to know should I drink more coffee, or start drinking it as if I haven't already and I'm not sure that that will be easy to answer until we have a lot of very Comprehensive electronic health data that we can kind of compare overtime and then look at populations compared to similar people.
