<video:title>Unlivable Oasis: A Housing Struggle on the Front Lines of the Climate Crisis</video:title>
<video:description>In the eastern Coachella Valley, one of the hottest regions in the U.S., an immigrant family struggles to find livable housing in the midst of the climate crisis. Excessive heat, arsenic-laced water and dust storms plague their already-dilapidated trailer, the only kind of housing they can afford on farm wages. Less than 30 miles northwest, more affluent residents cool themselves in shimmering pools and on lush green golf courses. Between these worlds is what’s known as the “climate gap,” a literal gap in temperature and infrastructure, but also a gap in suffering due to the climate crisis. The harms of this crisis are disproportionately and increasingly borne by people of color and those in poverty.
