Monday was a huge day for the Milwaukee Brewers, Javonte Williams, Yaxel Lendeborg, and YouTube TV subscribers looking to get their money's worth out of multiview.

It marked the 33rd sports equinox, when North America's four major professional sports leagues—the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB—are all in action on the same day. The WNBA joined the lineup this year, with Game 5 of the Finals bringing the slate to 15 games across five leagues. The sports equinox is known as a "[betting holiday](https://www.espn.com/espn/betting/story/%5F/id/46733635/sports-betting-2025-sports-equinox-nfl-nba-mlb-nhl)." Prediction markets celebrated by topping $1 billion in sports-related trading volume.

[Kalshi](https://kalshi.com/) generated $225.5 million in trading volume across the 15 games, excluding combo contracts, also known as parlays. [Polymarket](https://polymarket.com/sports/live)'s international platform drew $54.8 million across those same games, while [Novig](https://data.novig.com/?from=2026-10-26&to=2026-10-26) recorded $96.3 million on its sports-only exchange, including parlays, which accounted for 48.6% of its daily volume. Sports markets generated roughly [$1.3 billion in notional trading volume](https://defirate.com/prediction-markets/volume/) across the nine exchanges tracked by [DeFi Rate](https://defirate.com/prediction-markets/volume/) over the preceding 24 hours, according to its data as of 12:30 p.m. ET Tuesday.

The sports equinox revealed which leagues traders are most invested in. Anthony Edwards told the Fall Classic that October is his month now, while the NFL put up a number only the NFL could find underwhelming.

## Sports Equinox Trading Volume

Here is a league-by-league breakdown of Kalshi's $225.5 million in trading volume across Monday's 15 games:

1. **NBA (nine games) — $97.5 million**
2. **NFL (one game) — $96.2 million**
3. **MLB (one game) — $20.2 million**
4. **NHL (three games) — $7.8 million**
5. **WNBA (one game) — $3.8 million**

The NBA, backed by a nine-game slate, generated the most trading volume among all leagues on Kalshi at $97.5 million. The NFL generated the highest per-game trading volume at $96.2 million. The NHL generated the lowest at $2.6 million.

These five games drew the most trading volume on Kalshi:

1. **Cowboys vs. Eagles (NFL) — $96.2 million**
2. **Warriors vs. Nuggets (NBA) — $26.3 million**
3. **Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves (NBA) — $22.9 million**
4. **Rays vs. Brewers (MLB) — $20.2 million**
5. **Grizzlies vs. Jazz (NBA) — $9.3 million**

Cowboys vs. Eagles outdrew the next four most-traded games combined. An impressive showing, somewhat undermined by what prediction markets consider a normal night for the NFL.

Monday Night Football games had been averaging $135.7 million in trading volume on Kalshi heading into Cowboys vs. Eagles, which settled as the lowest-traded Monday night game to date at $96.2 million. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and receiver DeVonta Smith were both sidelined for Philadelphia, potentially taking some of the appeal out of an otherwise marquee NFC East matchup. It was also a reminder that the NFL's relationship with sports traders, even in primetime, is not an exclusive one.

Warriors vs. Nuggets and Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves commanded more trading volume than Game 3 of the World Series. Two regular-season NBA games each outdrawing baseball's main event was quite the opening-week flex. It may also suggest that live trading thrives on a result still in doubt. The Brewers were leading the Rays 10-0 by the fifth inning on Monday night, taking much of the suspense out of that one. The NBA distanced itself from the "[National Blowout Association](https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-stories/nba-news-national-blowout-association-trends-lopsided-games-highlighted-by-bucks-vs-celtics)" nickname, with seven of nine games decided by 11 points or fewer, including an overtime battle between the Cavaliers and Timberwolves that had traders guessing whether Anthony Edwards would drop a 50-piece (he stopped short at 47 points).

The NBA has the [highest global footprint](https://yougov.com/articles/48115-the-global-footprint-of-american-sports-league-nfl-nba-nhl-and-mlb) among the four major North American sports leagues. Interest in the NBA is even slightly higher globally (28%) than in the United States (26%), according to [YouGov](https://yougov.com/articles/48115-the-global-footprint-of-american-sports-league-nfl-nba-nhl-and-mlb)'s 2023 analysis. General interest does not directly translate to trading activity, but the Association's global reach may be why its games accounted for 77% of the volume across the 15 games on Polymarket's international platform, compared with 43% on Kalshi.

The next sports equinox will have to wait at least one year, but prediction markets are entering its busiest season yet with the NBA, NFL, NHL, and college football in full sprint and college basketball tipping off Sunday.

The nights only get longer from here.
