Broncos quarterback Bo Nix said he was "[scared to death](https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/2117299578101760229?s=42)" when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes got the ball back on Sunday. The market echoed his concern: down four with first-and-goal positioning and 35 seconds remaining, the Chiefs had a [70%](https://kalshi.com/markets/kxnflgame/nfl-game/kxnflgame-26nov01kcden) chance to win.

Mahomes and Co. got stood up at the goal line and surrendered the AFC West lead to the Broncos. The only thing worse than losing to a divisional rival: convincing that rival they are "one player away"—right as one of the league's best running backs comes barreling onto the trade market.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Colts are "[active in trade talks with teams](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/%5F/id/50323095/sources-colts-willing-trade-star-rb-jonathan-taylor)" surrounding Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor. During a Monday appearance on ESPN's _Get Up_, Schefter said multiple teams could propose packages that would make it "[very difficult for the Colts to keep Taylor](https://x.com/GetUpESPN/status/2117274419168952587?s=42)" ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. Kalshi's market now gives the Colts running back an 87% chance of being traded before the deadline.

The Colts are [reportedly](https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/football/player-news/2026-11-01/colts-would-seek-cmc-level-compensation-for-taylor) seeking a package similar to what the Panthers received from the 49ers for Christian McCaffrey in 2022: second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round draft picks. Those draft picks start to feel less precious when they return a player every franchise wishes it had nabbed. At Wisconsin, Taylor became the [first player in FBS history](https://uwbadgers.com/news/2020/1/3/football-jonathan-taylor-declares-for-nfl-draft) to rush for more than 6,000 yards in three seasons. He still fell to the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Taylor led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns last season and became just the [fourth player](https://x.com/NFLPlus/status/1987560888610820270) to reach 70 touchdowns and 7,000 rushing yards before turning 27, joining Jim Brown, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Emmitt Smith.

Denver's win over Kansas City might have been the catalyst they needed to splurge at the deadline. Prediction-market traders have a few other landing spots in mind for Taylor, including one team that could pair him with the league's best receiver and one whose season was supposed to be over in September.

## Jonathan Taylor Trade Odds

Below are the [odds for Jonathan Taylor's next team](https://kalshi.com/markets/kxnflnextteam/player-next-team/kxnflnextteam-26jtaylor28), per Kalshi.

![](https://gcp-na-images.contentstack.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/blt1d027b8ac2bd5f0f/6ae8f47a187d315496902378/Screenshot_2026-11-02_at_2.36.58_PM.png?branch=main_v1)

As most fantasy managers know, the Broncos backfield remains elusive so long as future Hall of Fame head coach Sean Payton is in charge. But it almost seems as if Denver has orchestrated a running back problem just in time to answer it.

J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey split backfield duties for the Broncos, with Dobbins handling the lion's share of carries, before Harvey was placed on injured reserve. Harvey's absence figured to send more work Dobbins' way. Instead, rookie Jonah Coleman handled a team-high 15 touches against the Chiefs, marking the second straight game in which the fourth-round pick earned more touches than Dobbins. That usage reversal might say more about how Denver feels about Dobbins than it does about Coleman. The Broncos aren't sold on Dobbins leading the backfield, and teams are rarely sold on rookies doing so in the playoffs.

The Broncos are the favorite to acquire Taylor at 33%, followed by the Seahawks at 21%, Vikings at 16%, and Giants at 12%.

A Taylor-to-Seattle Shefty Bomb would be the worst-case scenario for every other team and fan base around the league. Rostering Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who leads the league with 867 receiving yards and is [on pace](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/%5F/id/4430878/jaxon-smith-njigba) to break the single-season receiving yards record, is advantage enough. There's a real chance the Seahawks would become the Super Bowl favorites should they acquire Taylor, though Seattle just returned running backs [Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/%5F/id/50340383/seahawks-rbs-charbonnet-price-healthy-play-monday-night) from injured reserve. Running back is not a need, though it wouldn't be the first time we saw a [championship team](https://www.espn.com/nba/story/%5F/id/16759826/kevin-durant-announces-sign-golden-state-warriors) get greedy.

On Sunday, the Vikings learned that sometimes you need to score to win. The defense had held opponents to 10.3 points across their previous five games before giving up 19 points to the Lions and suffering their first loss of the season. Minnesota is more in the market for a [quarterback](https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/onsi/4-realistic-qb-trade-targets-vikings-kyler-murray-raises-red-flags-01m6et5qr0bh) than a running back, but pairing Taylor with Justin Jefferson may prove too good to turn down, even as the offense threatens to make the least of that duo.

The Giants are buyers by default. Quarterback Jaxson Dart sustained a [season-ending knee injury](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7619448/2026/09/22/jaxson-dart-giants-injury-loss-monday-night-football/) in Week 2, and New York's chances of winning the NFC East collapsed to 4.2%. The market never even considered that the rest of the division would lose twice as many games as won, or that the exiled-from-Minnesota [J.J. McCarthy](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/%5F/id/50052903/nfl-minnesota-vikings-jj-mccarthy-trade-new-york-giants-kevin-occonnell) would prove capable of leading game-winning drives. The Giants are now favored to win the NFC East at 52%, justifying a potential trade for Taylor.

Whichever team lands Taylor has a precedent to justify the steep asking price. The last time the Colts traded a future Hall of Fame running back: Marshall Faulk was shipped to the Rams in 1999—and won the Super Bowl that season.
